Description

On a dark blue field, with gold fringe borders with two drum sticks attached; an Ultramarine Blue square with three white diagonal stripes, each from heraldic sinister chief to dexter base; all within an Army Green border.  The three white stripes of the device are symbolical of the three major operations in which the division participated in World War I. The blue field symbolizes the loyalty of those who placed their lives on the altar of self-sacrifice in defense of the American ideals of liberty and Democracy.  Above the blue square a white tri-parted scroll, edged blue and inscribed “3RD INFANTRY DIVISION” in blue letters.   The scroll colors convey the Infantry branch where the band began.  Above the scroll are the five campaigns the unit participated since its inception.   Below the scroll and insignia are streamers denoting the band’s decorations for service during World War II, the Korean War, and War on Terrorism.
